Bring Things for WINGS

The students in Psychology 345 are holding a supply drive on the Schaumburg campus between Monday, April 4th and Thursday, April 14th. This drive will benefit WINGS (Women in Need Growing Stronger), an organization in Palatine that helps homeless and abused women by offering shelter, educational services, and other forms of support.

Donation boxes will be set up around the Schaumburg campus, and you can drop items off at any time. Items on the WINGS spring wish list include:

- household cleaning items (dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent, toilet cleaner, floor cleaner, sponges, etc.)
- kitchen basics, including paper towels, plastic wrap, aluminum foil, trash bags
- children’s products, such as baby wipes, 3-4T diapers, baby monitors, pedialyte

If you are not sure if something is appropriate to donate, please contact Dr. Jill Coleman at jcoleman@roosevelt.edu, or look for the flyers around the Schaumburg campus. Thanks for your support of our class and of WINGS!

Upcoming events for students from our psychology organizations

Psychology Club

Monday, April 4, 4:45 - 5:45 pm in AUD 320: Psychology CV workshop with Dr. Cami McBride, director of Roosevelt's Psy.D. program, and Katie Mason from Career Services. Students are encouraged to bring their GPAs, GRE scores, resumes, and lists of any extracurricular activities so that they can work on their CVs with the experts. This is a great opportunity to hone this important tool with which a psychology student can present him- or herself!

Monday, April 11, 4:45 - 5:45 pm in AUD 320: End-of-year party and officer elections. In addition to chowing down on some pizza (yum), we will elect new officers for next year. All offices (President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and PR Officer) will be available, although one or two incumbents will run for re-election. Underclassmen are encouraged to run so that they can get the most out of their time here at Roosevelt. Please contact Ingrid Haugen at psychologyclub@mail.roosevelt.edu if you are interested in running for one of these positions.

Come to the Midwestern Psychological Association conference for free!

Psychology Club (with the help of SAFAC) is pleased to be sending a number of students free of charge to the annual Midwestern Psychological Association (MPA) conference held May 5-7 at the Palmer House Hilton, just a few blocks from the Auditorium Building. To sign up for a spot, please go to AUD 344 and ask about signing up for the MPA conference. This will be a great opportunity for students to network and to learn about current research in psychology, so we would like to send as many students as we can.

Students who sign up will receive an email from Psychology Club giving more details. More information about the conference and about MPA can be found at http://www.midwesternpsych.org/. Let's make Roosevelt's presence felt at the MPA conference! Sign up today! Questions can be addressed to Ingrid Haugen at psychologyclub@mail.roosevelt.edu.
